ringtones

I just got a new cell phone and the cingular pre-loaded ringtones fucking blow. so I went a little crazy and downloaded a bunch.

my default ringtone is now dead stars (the version by covenant - they didn't have joy division).

my best friend (her name starts w/ a D for those who've met her) has emerge by fischerspooner.

carnivore has nemesis by vnv nation (yes, if you haven't heard it, it's an absurdly dance industrial/ebm song - so shoot me)

my parents, because I'm a good cuban girl, have represent by orishas.

anyone else have crazy, wrong ringtones? and if you hear any of these when you're walking PH/CH/PS, feel free to say "hey wait, are you that fucking dork AFN?"

p.s. years ago, my ringtone was brass monkey and it used to scare the shit out of me when my phone would ring. I attempted to pick things that wouldn't ... totally freak me out.

to be fair, they have love will tear us apart, but it's a really horrible rendition. as in, not polyphonic. more like ... elevator music meets 8bit
  • My old phone had a preset ring tone of chickens.
That was pretty funny, people look at ya kinda strange when your purse starts squawking.
  • i've been making my own, tho my fave is the one my baby brother made for me: the opening riff from "sweet child of mine"
  • Mine is the theme song from Benny Hill. But a friend of mine made some really great kraftwerk ones. I wish I could program my own (damn you, sprint)

Aside from that, I find most ringtones incredibly irritating (the polyphonic ones are the worst), especially when people go through all of them when on the train. Just keep it simple.
  • erikka, you should be able to send them to yourself. works with most phones, no matter how old, and most emails
  • I just got my new 700p... but I hate ringers.

    Hate.

But I like having Bejeweled and watching Six Feet Under on the subway

cingular doesn't have any of my favorite kraftwerk songs in their ringtones. I don't mind polyphonic ringtones but I agree - when ppl play them on the subway, I kinda wish I had a taser.
