shooting near lefferts place and grand

around 11p tonight (5/17) there were about five gunshots and then a swarm of police and amublances on lefferts place just east of the intersection with grand. looks like someone got shot...maybe killed with all of the back up they brought in.

anyone else see or hear anything?

it happened out front of the apartment building where there are always people hanging out on the steps. also a car hit another car on the classon end of lefferts place and overturned. my neighbor said he thought the driver saw all the police activity and panicked, tried to turn around too quickly and in too small of a space and just drove up an over another car turning himself over. don't think the guy who was shot was killed - at least not according to the neighbor. and yeh, it was 4 shots.

any chance you've seen a news report about it online? i couldn't find anything about either incident this morning. (go figure)

the only thing i found online was the gothamist police incident map mentioning "overturned car" on lefferts & classon. i just spoke to my neighbor again - he said the guy was shot in the leg

It's totally crazy that this stuff didn't even get reported on. I live close by to the shooting and am disappointed that it's gotten no coverage whatsoever. Maybe the big real estate firms are paying off the press.

not to mention that last week there was also some other major incident on lefferts place, but between classon and franklin. i didn't hear any gunshots, but there were probably 10 police cars and a few cops chasing someone on foot while swarms of neighbors came out to catch the action.

i figured i'd at least see increased police presence on the street given two incidences in one week, but i haven't seen a cop since.

And again, Friday 5/25 - about 5 shots out front of 130 Lefferts (the big apt building) - then a bunch of people saying "lets go get em - we'll kill 'em" - I called the cops - I hope EVERYONE who hears gunshots calls 911, that way they actually believe us. They responded really quickly - and there were 4 squad cars and 2 detective cars. They asked around and everybody said "I didn't hear nothin'" so they looked for shells and then left. Please call 911 if you hear gunshots - we don't want things escalting (no one was injured friday).
