Park Slope dog-sitting collective: proposal call for i
I'm a new Slopester and a new dog-owner, and I wonder if anyone would be interested in participating in a dog-sitting exchange.
My general idea is this: we all have the occasional unavoidable long day/super late night/overnight away/other occasion on which our beloved pooch companions have to be cared for by Park Slope's often expensive dog-caring-for services. What if instead, for these occasions, there was some kind of cooperative thing where Slopian dog-owners banded together in solidarity to watch each other's dogs?
In my imagination, it wouldn't have to be a direct give-and-take thing; more a general agreement among like-minded people to be available when possible to watch each others' dogs and pass the favor on amongst each other. Also in my imagination, every dog would have a bio and, as with a regular boarding place, would have to be up-to-date on shots and so forth. Members could specify any limitations they might have as to the dogs they'd be able to watch, days they'd never be available, etc.
So, I'd like to open this up for discussion. I imagine that this could be an internet-based type of thing, but posting on this site is about the extent of my internet skills. And I will sign myself up as member #1 if it gets up and running.
Any thoughts?
