I volunteer for Bklyn community orgs and have given money to the older, more vulnerable-looking guys on 7th.

For able-bodied (not necessarily homeless) people who are professional panhandlers over the course of many, many years? Fairly low.

At least offer me some peanut M&Ms or something.

  • My favorite is the guy on 7th that hollers "Can you help me get a ten pound steak?!"
  • If you want to see people who really need compassion, turn your eyes away from our plump homless and con-artist population and look at homeless people in India.
  • Yeah, maybe I'm uncompassionate and insensitive, but I have a good life because I work hard, pay my own way and most people I know do the same. And even the unemployed people I know make an effort and seek employment. They don't beg and cajole and con. So when I see a bunch of people on 7th avenue twice my age being lazy and asking for money, I can't help but wonder why these idiots can't work like the rest of us.

And it's polluting the neighborhood. I wish there was a heavy punishment or even a sentence for panhandling. I would vote for anyone who got that passed!

And if anyone sees that moron outside the 7th avenue Q, please let him know he needs to stop telling me "nice hair" for god sakes, move out of my way, I have to get to work!

Yes I'm ranting. Don't get me started on the greenpeace guys.
