since the recent warm weather, has anyone been having a problem with bugs coming in their apartment through screens or cracks?

i really didn't want to respond to this because i assume the original poster has to be joking... but... as you mentioned in the post... warmer weather equals more bugs, especially flying bugs. that's the way nature works, even in an urban area like NYC. close your window, seal the cracks and don't leave food out if you want to keep them out.

sadly i wasn't "joking" about the bugs. i've lived in my apartment for 6 months and never had a bug in it, but now this weekend there were about 30 flying bugs that look like miniature cockroaches circling the light above my bed. i can deal with them by the light, it is the fact they all fall into my bed shortly after that is driving me mad.

i'm not dealing with mosquitos here. it's something much more sinister.
anyone know a good exterminator? or what the hell these little bugs could be?

Yeah... unfortunately, with the warm and humid weather comes more bugs. I don't know what you've got, but they do sound particularly nasty. I think your first line of defense should be contacting your landlord and letting him know that you're having a problem -- he can hire and pay for an exterminator.
