Reputable outfit to carry/move my possessions in?
Hello,
I am driving out a moving truck next week to move into my new apartment in Park Slope. The apartment is 1 flight up, and I don't want to carry all the stuff up. It's not a ton of stuff (coming from a 1BR apartment with some office stuff, file cabinets, lots of boxes, but maybe not a couch and definitely not a bed).
I want some guys to meet me at the apartment, unload the truck, and take the stuff up to the apartment.
Any recommendations for reputable, careful movers? I've heard that from a logistics point of view, it's best to hire loaders like this in the morning, while they are fresh and not slow, since they usually go by the hour, because even when they ARE slow and tired later in the day after a few such moves, they still go by the hour.
I don't see how this could take much more than an hour, even with two guys. I would probably carry up the boxes that are fragile, so that would save a few trips (heh heh, hopefully only the distance kind, not the falling over kind).
Do movers like this round up to the nearest hour, so that if they take an hour and five minutes, they charge 2 hours?
How much would you tip movers for doing a good job per hour of work they do?
Thanks!
