You can try the fabric stores on Bridge Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Right near the Macy's in the Fulton Mall. I have no idea if they have what you're looking for but they are the closest around and not high-end luxe fabrics.
Also Baltic Bazaar on Atlantic (I think). Rag Shop in Brooklyn may have something too.

Yup, Bridge Street is your best bet in Brooklyn. Not a lot of other options in the area, I found a while back:

Appolonia666, I LURVE your avatar. :-D And I agree about bridge Street, although the fabric shops there are getting closed down, there are alot fewer of them in the last few years. Sucks.

i ended up going to manhattan and got amazing fabric and notions. but i'll keep the brooklyn location in mind for the future
