WTF is wrong with some people ??????

Today i was nearly run down by a box truck making an illegal u turn against a light thru an intersection. the fact that i was crossing in the crosswalk with the light meant nothing to this asswipe and he proceeded to cuss me for being in his way

yesterday it was a friend who had to jump out of the way of a livery cab who pulled out from the curb apparently without looking at anything but oncoming trafic so he could make an illegal u turn. He missed my friend by less then 1 ft.

3 days ago it was looking out the window to see a woman grabbing her child and yanking him out of the way of some schmuck who once again was making an illegal u turn in the intesection against the light.

on a daily basis some moron makes a u turn in between 2 double parked trucks. and yes this is all occurring on 7th ave in the center slope where people are supposedly oh so nice and sweet.....

some poor old lady gets a ticket for getting to back to parking meter 2 minutes too late....yet where the f are the police for this ?

save a few lives, why dontcha, and ticket the sht outta these people.

a few points on the license is a dam good deterrent ya know ?

if one of these jerks actually grazes me one day im liable to rip their arms off ,ram one of em down their throat and the other up their arse.
theyll look pretty funny walking around like that n'est-ce pas ?

  • I completely agree! There are times where I wish I had some sort of pocket EMP device so I could stop these f*ckers in their tracks. Tonight one of my dogs was almost clipped by some prick in a minivan making a left turn as I was crossing LEGALLY at the crosswalk. This isn't the first time this happened at this intersection, the absolute best one was by a MTA bus! The driver was nice enough to honk his horn at me for taking too long to cross the street.

I firmly believe that driving brings people's inner asshole out, the bigger asshole they are outside of a car then they'll be an even bigger asshole when driving. I've seen people do outright dumb and dangerous shit in cars, it just blows me away. Are they unaware that a car is pretty big and can do alot of damage? They can maim or kill someone just because they're rushing to make a light. Morons. ](*,)
  • I'm normally a quiet and level-headed person, but I've shouted some very unkind words at people (in alarming numbers) who came whipping around corners while I was crossing legally, nearly running me down, and then honked at me as if I was the one in the wrong.

The best was the guy in a van who almost ran me down while I was crossing legally -- and he was turning the wrong way onto a one-way street -- and gave me the universal "WTF?" gesture. Asshat.
  • Oh, it's pretty simple. The city views moving violations and parking tickets as a revenue stream and nothing more. But there's a big difference between the two types of revenue streams.

When you ticket someone for being 45 seconds late in moving their car for alternate side, you're ticketing someone who's already trying to observe the law. You're ticketing someone who probably lives on the block and leads a relatively stable and routine life. In other words, you're ticketing someone who is traceable, is probably going to pay their ticket, and is probably not going to shoot you in the face.

When you ticket someone who does a careening, out of control U-turn in front of a school (I see these all the time, especially on 7th), you're dealing with someone who may or may not own the vehicle (they may drive for a living using someone else's vehicle), who may or may not be traceable to a valid address, and who certainly has serious antisocial tendencies and doesn't give a damn about the law. You could get threatened or hurt by someone like that.

It all adds up to taking the path of least resistance: Shower the residents with parking tickets for the tiniest violation -- even ones you made up. They have nice, settled lives and have neither the time nor the testosterone to aggressively challenge you. Meanwhile, avoid confronting aggressive, out-of-control jerks driving dangerously, 'cause it's a risk and a hassle and who cares if a few pedestrians get killed anyway? No skin off the DOT's nose.
  • I don't know if there's any truth to it but I once heard there was a difference in where the money goes. Parking tickets - 100% to the city, moving violations somehow the state gets a piece or the funds go into a different bucket.

I also just saw that the automated red light violations via camera are considered civil violations which are the same as parking tickets so the city would get all the revenue.

as both a driver and a pedestrian, i must admit my shock at the number of times im proceeding thru a clear intersection and someone seems to RUN into the crosswalk. this seems especially true when making a left across a 2 way such as 7th ave. i see an opening in traffic, i see no one in the crosswalk , i proceed, and just as soon as im left exposed to oncoming traffic , a mom practically throws a stroller in my path while looking the other direction and on a cell phone, or some one jogs thru with their dog and suddenly stops to have a chat with another passerby etc ....

so i do think there is a small amount of pedestrian stupidity as well.

i especially love the moms who push their strollers beyond the parked cars while waiting for the light to change, effectively exposing the child to danger, while they remain safe. Not exactly genius level IQ, eh ?

    hosers !

None of this excuses those drivers who make illegal u turn's without any thought whatsoever for others well-being.
