To the scumbag who scraped my parked car

I'm not a violent person but I'd just like to say I really wish I'd caught you doing that so I could've dragged you out and beat you with a tire iron.

  • On a related note, anyone know how I could find an honest and good body shop in the Slope area?
  • Don't know about their reps, but there are several near where I live:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=collision&near=Grand+Avenue+and+Bergen+St,+Brooklyn,+NY+11238&ie=UTF8&ll=40.678169,-73.962219&spn=0.015297,0.027294&z=15&om=1

Evidently, I live in the Collision District. :)

They don't all show up on the Google map above but there's also one more on my block (Bergen between Classon and Grand) and two on the corner of Bergen and Grand.
  • I wouldn't recommend anyone to you - you're obviously too violent and too obsessed with your large travelling appliance.

What I would recommend, though: trade up to a bike. And ditch the tire iron.

I'm not obsessed with my car, I just find it incredibly shitty that people don't have the decency to own up to their deeds. I'm sure you might be annoyed if someone ran over your bike and just kept driving. The fact is that we live in a society where if people think they can get away with something, they'll try. It's kind of depressing actually.
  • Apparently, some people don't realize that people who are pissed off (rightfully so) sometimes say things like that. The other night some jerk making a left turn while I had the right of way almost clipped one of my dogs when we were crossing the street. I was on the phone with my mom and said I wished I had a gun so I could shoot the bastard's tires out. Would I actually do anything like that? Of course not but it made me feel a bit better to say it.

Slopehead, you're right when you say if someone thinks they can get away with something, they'll try. Society is filled with cowards who do things when no one is around that they wouldn't do in front of other people.
  • Of course I wouldn't actually beat anyone with tire iron, I'm not even sure what a tire iron is. I simply had to vent a little after discovering what some loser had done to my car. It's not even so much the damage that angers me, it's the fact that someone KNEW they did this and just drove off like a freaking coward.

Great Bear on 4th Ave and 1st street. Honest, excellent and they do great mechanic work too.
  • I've owned my car for less than a month and it already has a big scrape. People should be tested extensively on their parallel parking skills before they're allowed to own a car in the city.
  • rose, the first big scrape is the worst. the rest get easier.
  • Yeah, I guess. Poor little car. For a while I pretended that it was just bird crap, but after the recent rain, I've had to face facts.
  • first cut is the deepest, rose. wait till a jerk cuts you off in the intersection of atlantic/vandy, and knocks your entire front bumper in the middle of the street. then, gets out of his car and stands there pointing at you screaming that you're a moron. after that, a scratch is just that.... but i do know that it hurts.
  • Heck these are just accidents, wait till they intentionally key your car or rip your mirror off
  • Or scratch up your anti-Bush sticker and the area around it, or place a "God Bless America" sticker on top of your anti-Bush sticker...
  • Maybe this is why Brooklyn has the highest car insurance rates in the country

People suck. I was hit by a car a few years ago and the woman actually got out of her car and started yelling at me that I needed to be more careful. I was crossing the street at a walk sign and she made a turn and hit me from behind, but she perceived this to be my fault.

My husband's car was keyed while it was parked on my street, and the windows have been broken at least twice (just for fun, apparently, since nothing was taken out of the car).
  • i know. there's a hole in my back bumper, looks like someone drilled it. for no reason, just a hole.
  • I had someone smash my passenger window the other night, they did not leave a note :(

Cool I'll give them a call - thanks!
  • i saw a white van try and squeeze by a car the other day on pacific st. oops, he kinda smashed it. he started to pull away. i ran up to the van and yelled "stop!" of course, he didn't stop. what a jerk. some people just don't give a sh**. depressing.
