  • what vet were you using?
  • Attorney Dan Mitchell, is that you?
  • a lot of vets offer a payment plan. Or, put it on a credit card.

This is yet another unfortunate example of why it's important to keep a pet cat strictly indoors.

    Best of luck.

Yep sounds like that let me scam you please kind of posting but just in case it is not...I hope the OP comes back in and tells us what vet is treating the cat... and how things are coming along..
  • And lays off the damn ALL CAPS. Seriously, how do people not know not to do that in this day and age?
  • Well...this doesn't look quite right, does it?

But if it's legit, I hope Softy recovers.

Yeah I agree that CAPS like that are so annoying. If you left a note for someone would you write it all in caps.. unless you were shouting. EMERGENCY.. I was rushed to the hospital unconscious..please come immediately!!
  • Grammar could be better, too.
I CANNOT AFFORD THE 2000 $ VET BILL TO FIX MY KITTY'S NAME "SOFTY"
Oh, I say you can fix your kitty's name for free, without paying a vet. Just start calling it "Tiger" or "Li'l Ratner" or "Fictitiousetta" or whatever. Problem solved!

LOL! Ah yes, no doubt it is Attorney Dan Mitchell!
  • I find it amusing that for someone who has never ever posted on this site, you are seeking to solicit here for your imaginary cat. I can't speak for everyone but I think my fellow neighbors who post here are pretty damn savvy and we spot a scammer from a mile away.
  • When I was in college I took my dog to the emergency room in Manhattan and had to have him put to sleep because I couldn't afford the Vet's bills.

If you let us know who the vet is, if you are for real, I will get in touch with the vet and help you out, as I am sure others will.

so i guess he never replied?
  • Just because he/she has never replied and hasn't come back here to post again doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam (of course, that doesn't mean it isn't either). He/she may have just looked for every possible NYC bulletin board/discussion forum to post on and then assumed leaving personal contact info (which we very much discourage, for various reasons) would be enough. I'm guessing from the all caps message and the way it was posted that this is probably a person without a huge amount of experience in how online discussion forums work and what the conventions for posting are.

I suppose if one of you really wants to know more, you could PM the poster or contact him/her through the email addresses or phone number provided to ask.

The credit card was my first thought.

it's bad enough that children are molly-coddled with an anchor called a cell phone

but should a cat now be given the resposibility a credit card?
  • Well actually this was a real situation. A friend posted this in a rush and didn't pay attention to grammar etc. In the end we got help from family and friends and everything worked out thank God!
  • Glad to hear. I hope you're kitty recovers soon.
