That location was only good for LIU students. If they couldve held on until Forte opens maybe they wouldve gotten new customers.

If only they were higher up Dekalb I wouldve been in there regularly. I get my Jamaican food from Buff Patty on Myrtle, but it doesnt have the atmosphere nor decor for eating in.

All I can say is MObays needed to close years ago. Sugar Cane, for Great food and atmosphere on Flatubsh off of Bergen...you wont be disappointed and well worth the trek. :) [/b]
  • Sugar Cane is the best! Always buzzing and the food is very good. Maybe a bit too loud in general though - hard to hear your friends talking

Who cares about Mobays when you have SugarCane? This place is perfect for great food, drinks and atmosphere. So glad my friends and I wandered in on the way to looking for somewhere to eat on 5th Avenue.
  • Sugar Cane is too loud and crowded for me. Loved Mobay, though—very sorry to hear that it's closing. :(
  • Try Brooks Valley for the best in Caribbean on Tompkins and Hancock, and you can see the kitchen so you know what you are eating. BYOB

If they serve cow cod soup that may not be a plus! LOL
  • I walked by MoBay today and there was a sign posted in the window stating "Closed for Vacation: July 1 - July 31".

I love the food there, so hopefully it's just a temporary close.
  • Actually I been to Sugarcane and the food at Mobay in my opinion is WAYY better.. I hate the hype /noise / crowd in Sugarcane..It's overly crowded in there as well. I think Mobay is more Jamaican and Sugar cane is more trini - You cannot compare the 2. But for the atmosphere.. Sugar cane by far has it..But if you just want to order something quick or eat..w/o the whole dining prolonged exp.. I prefer Mobay.
  • where are these two places, mobay and sugarcane??

Mobay is on Dekalb near Ashland, and Sugarcane is on Flatbush near Bergen.
