  • Well, good luck on getting Verizon to come clean about their internet service. When I moved last November I signed up for all 3 services. First I got Direct TV hooked up, 2 weeks later they came to install my phone, during this they were saying that my modem was being shipped out any day. After 4 weeks of no internet and calling them 4 or 5 times, someone finally admitted that Verizon doesn't have internet in my area yet.

    I canceled and ordered Cablevision's triple play. Aside from the phone service I'm satisfied with it. I've had problems with people not being able to hear me well on the phone but it comes and goes.
  • yeah dsl isnt available here either. therefore fios probably isnt either.

    check: here

    Cablevision cust service blows - but the product is good. I too have all 3 service and have been pretty happy.
  • Subject: verizon SUCKS

    I had a nightmare with Verizon --primarily DSL problems -- that lasted MONTHS and sucked up weeks worth of my work hours.....they have THE WORST policies, systems and inept customer service. I finally gave up and ordered the Optimum triple play, and aside from it going out a couple of times (once for a full day) it's been fine....
  • cablevision is an easy winner between the 2 for me
  • I just called both Verizon and Cablevision. I know that Verizon gets horrible reviews, and my first attempt to ask them about prices proved the rumors true. But they only charge $14.99 for monthly DSL, and Cablevision charges $49. Is it worth the difference? I don't want Cable TV, though I might consider VOIP. I could live with not-the-fastest internet service.

    If you call that living...

    :wink::lol:
  • Simple for now.
    Cablevision will give you cable television, Verizon cannot.
    Cablevision can give you phone and internet through its hybrid fiber optic and copper cable lines, too.
    At this time, Verizon can only give you phone and internet through its hybrid of fiber optic and traditional twisted copper lines into the home. Slow. They'll try and sellyou TV, but it's satellite TV for now [DirecTV], the folks with the ugly gray rooftop dish.
    So if you want turtle-like speed and bad service, go with Verizon by all means. Especially since you have to sign a 2-year contract for a lot of their stuff.
    If you want a little better service, faster speeds, and tv, it's Cablevision for now.
    Verizon FiOS mostly fiber optic cable tv/phone/internet service is a few years away in Brooklyn.
