car rental?

i need to rent a car for a day trip on saturday. any suggestions for rental places? looking to avoid excessive hassle and excessive cost.

I usually use Enterprise... and they are pretty easy to deal with.

I wanted to check out AllCar Rental... on Warren Street (tehy have numerous locations throughout Brooklyn)....

I think there is an Enterprise on Nevins and Atlantic and I think there is a Hertz on St. Marks bet. Underhill and Washington (Armchair am I correct?)

Two things to keep in mind . . .

1. You might be required to take the car from Sat morning until Monday morning.

2. You might have to be 25 or older.

For future reference, join Zip Car www.zipcar.com - it's easier.

I've always used Speedy on Union below 7th. But since it's a vacation wkend, they (and many places) may only rent for the whole wkend.

I don't like Enterprise. I've had multiple problems in the past with them adding insurance charges for coverage I didn't want and refusing to take it off.

I haven't really found anywhere in Brooklyn that I like. When I'm not using Zipcar, I usually rent from Alamo/National in Manhattan. Not that convenient, but cheapest I've found for a chain. (Always check the "deals" section on their web site.)

There's also a new Avis at Atlantic & Court, but I haven't tried them. Avis is a little pricier than Alamo/National anyway.

I've tried some non-chain type rental places, and I find them shady and unreliable.

Speedy's is waaaay cheaper than Zipcar for long weekends, and for whole weeks too.
