It was interesting finding out that Brooklyn was apparently a wasteland before 1990... Those of us who were actually here before 1990 might not agree....whatever.
Apparently South brooklyn doesn't exist either...

Wow, what excellent journalism. Gritty, honest and tapping into the heart of the community!

I love Alan Richman, he's one of our finest restaurant critics, but jeezus, has he been asleep for the past 5 years? Maybe he should have by-lined this Rip Van Winkle III. And did he really write this line, or did GQ's editor blue-pen it..."...Manhattan as a rapacious creature with a yawning maw..."
And why does he propagate the myth of "hour-wait-at-all-times Al Di Lá..." - just not true - you just have to know when to go.
Well, I hope GQ's readership is down so we don't have to deal with adventure-seeking Manhattanites coming to our beloved borough looking for what they never knew they missed.
Anyway, nice props to Saul and The Good Fork. -

I thought it was a good, fun article. It must have been a blast to try all those restaurants. I want a job like that!

How old is Alan Richman? Does he live in Park Slope?
