Car wedged under back end of a school bus on E. Pkwy - Doh!

Anyone see this this am? Right at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Washington. Pretty funny looking.

I didn't see it happen, but I saw the results. Looked like a dude didn't notice that the school bus in front of him was stopped, and kept going. The bus had a high rear end, and his car just fit right under the back of the bus like a puzzle piece. If anyone had been hurt it wouldn't have been funny, but it didn't appear that anyone was hurt and there were no children in the bus. What made it funnier was that dude's car was a tricked out type vehicle with the fancy rims and all. Bus driver lady was just sitting there in her empty bus, looking bemused.

This is the second car accident I've seen at that intersection this summer.

First one, I actually witnessed it happening. There was a loud CRUNCH as an SUV made a left from Classon onto E. Pkwy, cut it a leeetle too close, and slowly DROVE right OVER the HOOD of a car stopped at the red light on E. Pkwy. Bummer. Heh. Again, it happened at a very slow speed and didn't appear that anyone was hurt.

  • Oh please, please post a pic!!
  • Not directly related, but I have to rant about MTA bus drivers. They dont give a rats ass when they pull out of a bus stop! They just pull right out without looking, and be damned if you happen to be driving past them at that time. Dont they consider how many of their passengers would be flung to the floor if they hit a car or have to make a sudden stop due to their idiotic driving? There are no seat belts on those buses.
  • Yeah, true... but it goes both ways. Lots of drivers out there give no respect to the buses in the city. I love taking the bus, cause sometimes I'm in the subway dead-zone and the bus is better. Just like the subway, got to learn out to surf.
  • If those bus drivers waiting for someone to let them back into traffic they would NEVER get back in, at least on many busy streets.
  • yeah, i saw this right after it happened. when the car driver and bus driver were still in their vehicles. the car driver got out and started yelling at the bus driver that she went in reverse, which she vigorously denied. not sure if it was true but the guy was pissed.

Never? hhm. Lots of them know how to get the front corner of the bus into the traffic at the right time and merge properly, but there are so many of them that simply dont give a shit and just barrel out without looking. Those are the fools that I have an issue with.
