Apparently, there was a multitude of manhole fires that knocked out power b/w 13-15th Street. I also heard rumors a bank was robbed during the outage

  • I did survive--power came on around 2:30 AM. I was mildly impressed with how fast the FD and police came when the manholes exploded right near us (13th and 7th). But half our block (13th between 6th and 7th) had power, which really illustrated how patched together the system is.
  • I am b/w 5th and 6th. We didn't get any power until about 3:30.
  • We lost power in about 2/3 of the house. It was out for about 90 minutes and came back on around 11:00 p.m. What was funny to me was that the immediate response of almost everyone on my block was to grab a beer and stand around outside.
  • Huh? The power went out? We were fine down on 4th ave. Of course, I'm convinced that we are actually running on the radioactive fumes coming from the gowanus canal. :P
  • i had power the whole time. i can't deal with blackouts.
  • Con Edison is still working outside
