  • we could make a game of what happen to him.
  • I bet he got the keys from Mr Joseph and there was a long strange story of how he had to "borrow" the car, found the keys, took it to Canada for a quick visit with his honey. Mr Joseph said sorry and offered some Canadian bacon and maple syrup. Good times.
  • I just sent him a PM. He's certainly under no obligation to come back and follow up, but since folks are concerned about what happened and this was such a weird series of events I thought I'd just let him know we'd love to hear more if he's comfortable sharing.
  • Hey all, Sorry for not checking in a few days. It was actually a cop in the 77th precinct who spotted the car and notified me, so the NYPD has already taken the alarm off of it. And re: tickets, looking forward to getting that police report and fighting with the NY Department of Finance over an alternate-side parking ticket.

I decided in the end not to contact Joseph--didn't seem like there was much to be gained other than retrieving a key that I won't use (I'm planning to get the car's locks changed). For now am just using a club to deter him from taking it out for another spin.

I'm kinda glad you didn't contact that guy, although I would have LOVED to have heard what kind of story he spun for you about this whole thing! That note just sounded flat out skeevy. Hope getting the locks changed doesn't cost you too much, and that Joseph or whoever had it didn't damage the car.
  • not directly related except that it's about a car on Prospect Place, but.....
last week I saw that some poor guy had had the tires on his car slashed. This is between Carleton and Vanderbilt.....don't know anything more....
