Neighborhood Association

not that I know of. I know that st. johns has a block association - the president's name is spraypainted on a wall at the corner of st. johns & washington, NW side.
I think there are meetings in CH somewhere for the 77th but I can never get to them because they're pretty early in the evening on mondays, though I keep swearing I'll make it to the next one.
most of the folks I know in the nabe I know either from this board or, before I started hanging out on this board, from just hanging out in the local bars & restaurants.
I believe that ripple has been pushing a new washington ave biz owners association and I signed a petition awhile back there to see if we could have a washington ave. block party.
oh, and I think there's a crow hill association but not sure when/where they meet - check the CH board.
there you go - everything I know re: nabe associations. -

Apparently, there is one where the police attend and give detailed information on all of the crimes that happened in the neighborhood. -
There are three Prospect Heights organizations. I helped start the Shirley Chisholm Political Collective, and we are hoping to find a way for older and newer residents to find common ground to work towards common interests. We have not been very active this summer, but we are glad to get new people involved- let me know if you want more information.
There is also the Prospect Heights Action Coalition, which is Patti Hagan's initiative. There's also the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council, which has aligned itself with the Municipal Arts Society in trying to work with Ratner and elected officials to ameliorate the potential impacts of the Atlantic Yards project.
I'd be glad to give more detailed opinions offline. There are also block associations and the Community Board, but other neighborhoods, such as Park Slope and Crown Heights, are better organized that Prospect Heights.
I do hope to develop SCPC into a tool for our neighbors to advocate for ourselves. I'd also like to not have interminable meetings, and to provide something positive, both politically and neighborly.
