Can We Beat Her?
Dear neighbors,
As many of you can imagine, we're having a doozy of a time convincing our 11-y.o. Cambodian seamtress (who lives quite nicely in our to-be-renovated boiler room) that the 30 minutes she's asked for each day to practice her English and review child labor laws is excessive. My husband and I have discouraged her firmly to eschew these aspirations, as we are only months away from the holiday social gathering circuit and I need 200% commitment to the tailoring of my archived couture.
Husband suggests a swift lashing, as another poster is considering for his valet. I'm thinking we should just start rationing the food (again) and taking this 30 min break out of her $.50/hour paycheck. Thoughts?

Give 'em a time-out? -
Honestly, have we learnt nothing from history? During the revolution, indigent Cambodian seamtresses made great Phở for the other workers. Your boiler could be easily converted for the purpose.

I know that you are trying to get attention... You deserve a swift lashing for your stupidity and shameful behavior on an issue of social justice and real in the lives of many - even in our own city. If your intent was to incite, you did just that. Congratulations.

Perhaps the intent was to bring attention to the plight of these people, and the fascist people who control their lives. -
