Street construction on New York bet Park pl Prospect P

Does anybody know what the street construction is for, the dug up the street once then paved it and dug it up again. I was just curious.

Yeah, there was a pothole that turned into a sinkhole because the ground underneath it had given way. They came through and patched it, and the patch lasted about six weeks before the ground gave way again. The city then dug up the entire corner, replaced the sewer lines, poured a new concrete base and repaved it. It is finally done and now just needs lines painted.
