Couch Disposal

Hello, Does anyone know the rules for getting rid of a couch in Park Slope? Can I just leave it on the curb (I've seen couches disposed like that in the city) or do I have to call somewhere to arrange pick-up? Thanks!

one of the two pickup days on your block is for bulk trash.
nyc.gov and click on sanitation to find out.
no you do not need an appointment, that's for refrigerators and air conditioners w/freon.
besides if it's on the street someone may salvage it unless it's too fugly.
