You have to say something so you can find out whether it's sloppy service or an actual cut back in serving size. Considering they list the sizes by weight (in ounces), I'd guess they just f*k up.
BTW, I have been waited on by the same counter guy before, and the serving size was always more than adequate. At this point I do believe they're cutting the serving size down significantly. At least they did mine that night.
I'm not "upset", I'm annoyed.
I was in there a couple weeks ago and the mini size was the same. -
$12 for what...two medium cones with berries on top?

just to be perfectly clear, i was told that the owner directed staff to drastically cut down on toppings. -

nah, it's totally a taste thing. some people like tart. Unsweet, tart.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm -
And I am happy to report that I just received a generous helping of strawberries and choc chips. Oko is back (for the time being)!

kosherdave - if what you say about ruthless capitalism in nyc what about nysc....???
i think that's an encouraging sign for... anti-capitalists. something incredibly overpriced and shitty can MORE THAN survive, FLOURISH!! -
[an oko poem]
oh tangy berries
why hast left mine oko, ye?
please return i beg -
I get the mini size, and it's huge. And, might I add, quite delicious.
-
The mini size is "huge"? Seriously, it's about 4 tablespoons for $3.

and this is what happens when we don't talk to the people who work there instead....

some of the comments are tearing this place AND park slope's residents apart.
and it was unnecessary. -
Ha! I was about to link that page, you beat me too it!
My 2 cents: those solar panels are all show. That side of the street doesn't get that much sun. Sure it gets some, but if they really were in it to gain energy they'd place the damn things on the roof. Marketing. -
I posted on that thread and complemented both this board and Oko... too bad some people have nothing better to do with their time than to blast others...

Ok, now I think we're overdramatizing a little. Tearing Oko and Park Slope apart? I mean, come on. Look at the withering comments posted about nearly every Park Slope establishment on here... how many of these posts have led to their demise? Just about zero. Oko's got legs... just about every person (myself included) who has criticized has also said that Oko rocks. I expect some toppings for my money, but I don't think it's gonna shut the place down.

I posted about my personal experiences AND I am a lover of Oko yogurt. I will continue to post regarding the serving size if I feel like it. :P
-
I went there again Friday night, and am glad to report the serving size was back to normal, and I got 11 big gooseberries, more than enough. Yay!! Made my day. I love you, Oko!

Slight tangent, but... gooseberries? Yowza - I tried one the last time I was in Oko and can't say I understand the attraction. -
They are sour, but I like that, and I think it contrasts with the yogurt in an interesting way.
Perhaps an acquired taste. -
Subject: Golden Berries
sje wrote: BTW, anyone tried the "golden berries"? They're Gooseberries! Deliciously sour and weird! MMMM! I've never even seen them for sale anywhere.
FYI -
You can purchase "Golden Berries" dried at Whole Foods - they call them "Inca Berries" and they are usually placed with the "Goji Berries".
I saw fresh ones at Garden of Eden Grocery store on 23rd and 7th Ave in Manhattan.
I agree, sour, sweet and wierd but yummy. -

Subject: Make this at home!
I enjoy eating at Oko and Pinkberry, but you can totally make this stuff at home. Buy a container of FAGE or similar greek yogurt. Put it in the freezer until frozen. Take it out, let it sit for a little bit until it is a little softer and then put it in your food processor. Add a little milk and process the yogurt until it is the consistency of frozen yogurt (probably about 20 seconds). You can also add sugar and vanilla to taste, if you'd like. Top with fruit, and voila!
It literally takes one minute to make.
Howdy, Stranger!
