allergist in the slope

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Hey all

I need to get tested for some food allergies. Don't have insurance and therefore don't have a regular doctor. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good allergist or doctor who will run these tests for me, in the neighborhood.

Thanks!!

NOT, under any circumstances, Dr. Arlene Schneider. She's the only allergist I've had experience with in the area, so I can't recommend any, but I'm going to put this out there: AVOID Schneider at all costs. AVOID.
I went to see her to have my asthma dealt with and it was a nightmare. She constantly is running hours late, which she doesn't apologize for, she has a number of fellows, so in the course of a visit you may see three or four different doctors, none of whom will know anything about you, and you will also almost never see Dr. Schneider for more than three seconds at a time. When you do see her, you can be sure she will not look at you, will have her hand on the doorknob before she starts to talk to you, and will totally ignore or brush off your concerns before waltzing out the door. She never listened to me at all and she treated me in a way that I found ridiculously disrespectful, not to mention the time I had a bad reaction to a drug she put me on and she then told me that it was impossible that I was having that reaction because it "doesn't happen." I had to basically bully her into changing the med. After she did, of course, I stopped having the reaction. Hmm...
Basically, she's cold and pretty unpleasant to deal with, not to mention mean, horribly authoritarian and condescending. She also just isn't very good at her job, as far as I can tell.
Her partner, Dr. Rao, seemed marginally better the one time I saw him, but only marginally, so I'd say avoid the whole office.
