Supermarket to State Renaissance Court — Brooklynian

Supermarket to State Renaissance Court

First off I'd like to state that although I think this is Downtown Brooklyn, according to the school district we're in Boerum Hill.

Anyways, this building - at the corner of Hoyt and Schermerhorn in Downtown Brooklyn/Boerum Hill - has had an 11,502 square foot space available since the building opened in August.

This past week a sign went up in the window stating that the space had been rented. We asked our super if he knew what was going in there and he stated that it was going to be a supermarket, though he did not know which one.

I'm very excited about this, since a) I live in the building and b) the only supermarket in Downtown - a C-Town - closed nearly a decade ago.

I'm sure it will be a Key Food or Met or something, but does anyone have any more info?

  • Interesting! That's a good location for a food store - especially for people who take the A/C train. I know I'd love to have a convenient place to stop by on my way home.

However, 11,000 sf seems pretty small for a Met or Key Food, right? I am hoping against hope that whatever it is, it will have decent produce.

Thanks for the head's up. Oh, the State Street Renaissance is definitely in Downtown Brooklyn. Its generally agreed that Atlantic Ave. is the northern border of Boreum Hill. Of course, they are still charging Boreum Hill rents!
