Pediatrician recommendation? — Brooklynian

Pediatrician recommendation?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Hi all - we're expecting twin boys in February and want to identify some pediatrician options in the Slope (or nearby) before the bundles of joy arrive. A quick search of the board archives revealed Pediatric Associates on Plaza St as a recommendation. Does anyone have any other suggestions or recent experience with Pediatric Assoc?

Thanks in advance!

  • We've been taking our kids to Pediatric Associates for 3 years. We've always been well served by them.

We started with Premier Pediatrics on 7th Ave, but switched after a mistake they made resulted in avoidable minor surgery for our son, who was 14 months at the time. All of the doctors we experienced there also had terrible bedside manners and never took the time to actually have a conversation about the children. Just rush in, stick, prod, write something down, leave.
  • Thanks, good to know (and what a horrible experience you had!). I'm a stickler for good bedside manners... doctors who take the doctor-knows-best attitude and won't discuss decisions/issues will not be on my list.
  • Dr Phillippa Gordon, at St Johns and Eighth Avenue. Really excellent, very happy with her office.

(and the location couldn't be better for you)
  • Dr. Amy Glaser in the same office. She's my preference.

  • My wife and I are really happy with both Glaser and Gordon. They are very different, but both are great docs. They have a new doctor in the practice named Papageorge (sp) who is very nice too. Put simply - Dr. Glaser saved one of our son's life (long story). Needless to say - we are big fans.
  • I also highly recommend Dr. Glaser and Dr. Gordon. We have been
going to Dr. Glaser since my daughter was born in the late 80's.
  • Subject: Premier Pediatrics

My daughter goes to Dr. Price at Premier Pediatrics, and we've had lovely experiences. Never any waiting time, staff is nice (which is surprisingly hard to come by), and we like Dr. Price's non-hysterical approach.

FourthStreeter, so sorry you had a bad experience, though. That sucks.
  • Those of you who are happy with Glaser and Gordon, which one do you actually see?
  • I usually see Dr. Glaser as she is the one I know better since it was her
sole practice in the 80's. I am very comfortable with her.

I have seen Dr. Gordon over the years and she is also very good.

I would not hesitate to recommend either one of them to any new parent
as their manner with parents and children is low key and pleasant, and the office is well run and organized.
  • We picked the practice after we interviewed Gordon, but it turned out that Glaser was usually the doctor in the office when our first son would need to see someone for a fever, ear infection, etc. Now we really don't care which one sees our sons since we like both of them.
  • Thanks for all the replies... Drs Glaser and Gordon definitely seem to be well-regarded.

Now, however, we're moving to South Slope, 16th Street. Does anyone know of any good pediatricians in that area?
  • I had a very bad experience with Dr Glaser, I switched to Pediatric Associates and I have been very happy there for the past ten years. My favorite is Dr. Horowitz. I live in the South Slope and it is worth the bus ride down 7th ave. or a car service ride.
