This is what I love about this town....

.....so, I posted below about looking for carpet.

Just brough the garbage to the curb and decided to look on the street for boxes.

Not only did I score about 20 perfectly clean, packed and roped Fresh Direct boxes, but I scored 2 big rolls of carpet

Looks like one of my neighbors just put down some carpet. It's rolled (inside out), but looks clean and fine. A tiny bit damp, but I'll let it sit in the sun and see how it looks.

All of this while an old lady picked through the garbage at my house.....taking the recycling bottles.

Everything being re-used. Yay.

Why do YOU love this town?[/u][/i]

  • My "recycling" guy shuts the gate behind him when he's done grabbing what he wants. Very considerate.
The corner bodega guy is a sweet heart and always makes small talk to me in spanish. The guys at 5th ave market say hi to me on the street. The block is beautiful. All I hate is the rent
Otherwise it's centrally located to all the areas I like to visit too(CH, PH, SP, RH, CG etc).
  • I love the fact that I know my dog-owning neighbors and that we stop & chat on the street

I love that the the folks at the MET know who I am, ditto the guys at Connecticut Muffin

I love that the owners of the restaurants we frequent a lot know us by name

    I love my rent
  • hmm strange, my post didn't go through.

anyway once i had a client who paid me to go dumpster diving. they outfitted their entire dorm with found stuff. all nice too.
  • I love that I have a walk-in closet at my new place (that was for you, LtT)

I love that my mailman gets it right and will still be my mailman when I move

I love that the pizza guy was talking to the other pizza guy in Spanish (not knowing I understood) and told him to hurry up and get "his girlfriend" (me) a slice - and to make sure it was a good one :-)
