Latest bullshit from the RIAA

Now they're claiming that music you ripped to your hard drive from your own CD that you purchased legally is "stolen." I cannot wait until all of these despicable weasels are out of business.

Here's the future...Radiohead's new album - From time.com "digital download available only via the band's web site, Radiohead.com. There's no label or distribution partner to cut into the band's profits — but then there may not be any profits. Drop In Rainbows' 15 songs into the online checkout basket and a question mark pops up where the price would normally be. Click it, and the prompt "It's Up To You" appears. Click again and it refreshes with the words "It's Really Up To You" — and really, it is. It's the first major album whose price is determined by what individual consumers want to pay for it. • oh they can die in a horrible fire.
  • Fuck'em.

Kaleidescape (home movie server) recently won a case against the DVD CCA (Copy Control Association), so I don't know how the RIAA thinks that they have a leg to stand on, here...
  • I wonder how they would even manage to enforce that. I mean, if you NEVER go on a file sharing network, how would they even know that you have your own ripped collection on your computer (without say, invasive spyware)? Do they actually expect us to download dupes of everything we own from iTunes? A lot of stuff I have isn't even available on iTunes.

They might as well throw the book at me because I've got over 4000 tunes on my computer, all of which I own a CD copy of, thankoo.
