Affordable Car Rental

I have a wedding to go to in CT and I wanted to find an affordable way to rent a car near BRK. Normally, I use Hotwire (which is super cheap), but I'd have to go take a taxi to LGA or JFK to pick up the car, and that would be a pain.

I also looked into zipcars, but I'm not sure how affordable that is in the long run, especially if I rarely need a car.

Any ideas?

Where in CT? Before we owned we'd take the train to Stamford and rent at Hertz or Avis accross the street from the station. Always cheaper than renting anywhere in the city and no fighting traffic in and out. The express train is 45 min from GCT. Renting here you still pay the toll over the whitestone brdige (and wait in line since you won't have an EZ-PASS) or take the long way through the city ( that's what I do, cheap SOB that I am)

No way I'd rent a car to go to a wedding in Greenwhich. it's only $7.60 for the train off-peak If you rent a car in the city with insurance and tax it can run you $60 easy thenyou have to drive and you can't drink while you're there

I don't think there's car rental in Greenwich but there should be a taxi. just get thier card so you can call for a pickup. There is a cab company in Stamford 203 325 2611.

I hate zipcar, their billing is awful, but I'd hate if they weren't there.

i use zipcar, i have the pre-pay $50/month plan, which gives me an additional 10% discount on rates. i absolutely love it. i have a garage *directly* across the street from my front door, and i have a garage *directly* behind me on the other side of the block. between the two places i have my choice of like 20 cars. it works out fantastic. they pay for your gas, they pay for insurance, and the cars are all new and nice. they even have BMWs now!
