Is it a good idea to support mediocre establishments?
I don't want to enter into a discussion as to what restaurants/establishments are good or bad in the area, what i was wondering if it is a good idea to support a restaurant (bar, coffee shop, etc) that is mediocre. Part of me thinks that I should in order to encourage more business to move into the area (and hope that they are better), but another side of me is afraid that it will encourage potential entrepeneurs to open other mediocre restaurants/establishments. I don't mind patronizing restaurants that have mediocre service, but my stomach (and my wallet) doesn't do well with mediocre food...
I don't know if it am expressing myself very well, but hopefully you will get the gist of it.
Any thoughts?

.... sage?
i stopped going.
i just felt like it wasn't worth my time nor money when they never had the food on their menus, could never get the order right on their already limited options, and i never really felt like the coffee was great (cold, curdled milk once, etc.)
they're friendly and i can understand why you'd want to keep going, but after it took an hour and a half to get a paninni (that was the third one that i asked for because they never had the prosciutto), i decided that i had just had enough. the novelty had worn off, i guess, and i knew that i could get a more filling meal for the same price (and in 10 minutes or less) from the chinese place between lincoln and st johns. -
i would say patronize it if you think you would miss it if it were gone,
otherwise...
i personally, (with one exception) have had good experiences at saje with respect to food,
service has sometimes been questionable and i have let Pascale (the owner) know; not about any particular incident, just that it can be an issue in general. and she was very appreciative, she wants the place to work.
i would honestly be sad to see it go, so i do make an effort to go there, there are two sides to everything;
saje has also been very accommodating when groups of us meet there over community issues even though not a lot of anything gets ordered and we take up a lot of space, a totally efficient establishment might not be open to that but it fills a much needed niche in the community.
