Bar Approved Civil Court candidates — Brooklynian

Bar Approved Civil Court candidates

qtrain
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
The Democratic primary has a pick 2/6 option for Judge of the Civil Court, but the only candidates approved by the New York City Bar are Dena Douglas, Philip Smallman, and Jacqueline Williams. Endorsements I could google up were Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats for Douglas, and Lambda Independent Democrats and Carib News for Douglas and Williams. Smallman may be shunned because he ran previously as a Conservative.

(I'm filling out an absentee ballot, and thought I'd share)

  • I grew up around the corner from Dena Douglas in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. She and her brother and sister went to my school (Brooklyn Freinds) for many years. In fact, she was the older kid who chaperoned my going-to-school subway ride in the 70's.

She was a good person back then. I wasn't able to find a website.
  • I have spoken with Dena Douglas and the other candidates. None of them can actually talk about issues, but Dena shows up at my political club, CBID. She also showed up at the DDDb rally, which I thought showed independence. She is not endorsed by my candidates, but I will vote for her.

I ran into Pia Woods after the Village Voice cover with the granny fighting the monster Ratner basketball destroying the neighborhood. I thought she would be please by this, but she said something like, "Oh, well, it's going to get built anyway." I think that is not a very pro-active attitude for someone who is running for elected office.
