don't have time to transcribe the whole thing, but quotes one person who "just finished having dinner at Deacon blue with my roomie!!!..." and another who says, "finally another reason to travel to Grand..."
Plus there's a callout to "read more ... at dailyheights.com"
lol... thats me!! -
ana.log wrote: FYI - I picked up a take-out menu for Deacon Blue from my building's lobby this morning and it's got actual quotes from Daily Heights users that were left on the board!
This is so cool. Does this mean I get a free burger? -

I think that you're a block or two out of their delivery range...
I had mentioned the site to Santos and Marcia a little more than a week back - they hadn't heard of it [DH] at that point... I'll take delivery of your burger for you!
-
Had breakfast there again this morning with Miss Jaha -- this time tried the Grand Marnier French toast, which was good, although I have to confess that I didn't taste much Grand Marnier. Nonetheless, it was yummy, affordable, and the atmosphere is really chill and friendly. They've started offering free delivery, too. We chatted with Santos a bit as we were leaving -- he seems like such a nice guy, and he's thrilled that people here on DH are responding so enthusiastically.
Now I just gotta get in there later in the day sometime to try one of their burgers! -
Subject: Just Go
Just go...stop reading this blog and get to "Deacon Blue". You will not be sorry. We ate there on Friday last week and it was fabulous! We started with the "Calamari"...great! Then we had the pork chop and I highly recommend the spicy fried chicken!! Desert was good but perhaps could use a little something more exciting...but there is time to grow! Cute place, lovely owners and they need your business...so go!!! Now...what are you waiting for?? -
anybody have the phone number handy? (i'm at a friend's house and i want to order)

Although I think they stop taking delivery orders at 9:15, so this may be too late! Sorry!! -
finally went
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
had the pasta with shrimp
i was totally needing comfort food
it was creamy, spicy & delicious
and they have rosemary bread (which i think rules)
totally mellow vibe
can't wait to try breakfast & lunch -

totally! it seems strange to me that they're not open later -- 9:30 seems early for nyc. i've definitely walked by wishing they were open en route to a late dinner at tavern on dean.
i'd love it if i could get their fried chicken late -- so yummy and so close to my house! -
Just a little bumb and update -
1) Deacon Blue now takes credit cards! Woo hoo!!!
2) We had the spicy fried chicken and the (I think) smoky penne pasta... both very good. -
had brunch there just this morning -- fish and grits. yum!
-
I need to give them another shot. my experience was slightly below average, but I trust y'all. will swing by again.
-
oh, I realize I didn't post my summary of last experience:
the fried calamari were amazingly good.
my chicken and waffles ... well, they sugared the waffles so I could not choose a savory dish, which really pissed me off. I'm not a sweet breakfast person and with chicken and waffles, I'm used to a choice between savory or sweet, customer choice. so being forced with powdered sugar, was not what I wanted at all. the chicken was good, but I barely ate the waffle - too sweet. -
Subject: new at deacon blue
the old deacon blue site is getting a new bistro, according to the three guys working there the other day. not affiliated with the deacon blue folks. apparently they worked out the basement water leak thing. i wonder if the place, plus howevermuch gentrification has taken place since deacon left, will make a difference?
