Pratt Area Community Council (PACC) is a not-for-profit community development organization entering its fifth decade. We provide tenant and community organizing, tenant and homeowner services, affordable housing development and management, and economic development to improve Central Brooklyn communities.
Director of Development and Communications
PACC seeks a full-time Director of Development and Communications to maintain and expand our public and private funding to support PACC’s efforts to develop equitable, diverse, engaged and flourishing communities. The Director is responsible for all aspects of PACC’s fundraising and income development. Develops fundraising strategies and campaigns to support the programs and the organization. Stays abreast of current fundraising techniques. Provides leadership to the organization’s efforts to obtain planned, annual and deferred giving. Responsible for developing strategies and implementing programs to raise funds from individuals, corporations, foundations and community organizations in support of PACC’s revenue goals. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct prospect research to cultivate new funding sources to expand PACC’s funding base
• Develop and implement a fundraising and strategic communications plan
• Conduct full range of activities to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to corporate and foundation sources
• Manage response to government RFPs in coordination with the Chief Program Officer
• Work with the Chief Program Officer to submit required reports and maintain compliance with all corporate, foundation and government contracts
• Assist with the cultivation of relationships with new and current funders, arrange site visits
• Maintain grants database of submission and report calendars, funds received and pending
• Work with Executive Director and Events/Communications Manager to plan and implement cultivation events
• Oversee the production of PACC brochures, annual report, and marketing materials including content for website and social media
• Lead efforts with Events/Communications Manager to conduct direct mail campaigns and build individual donor base
• Cultivate press contacts and earned media, working with the Events/Communications Manager to organize press conferences
Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience writing funding proposals and reports for not-for- profit and maintaining funder relations. Experience working in deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate corporate and foundation funding
• Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Word and Excel and database programs such as FileMaker Pro and Fund EZ, a must.
• Strong interpersonal skills needed
