bukster, you're a moron. you're wuoting the oldest song ever.
But you're still clueless...
fairview? ever been? the only nice thing there is the white castle. NOBODY moves to fairview to move up in the world. -

Hello! Quoted Springsteen from 1978 to make a point obviously lost on the clayster:
Translation: you guys talking about Loom or Deoderant Stains, Chuck Full o Nuts, blah, blah, blah, are just going through the motions - sure, you live in Brooklyn but Brooklyn doesn't live in you - and never will. No matter how many Bstones you own. And "Fairview," idealogically, represents today's Slope - or at least certain folks who live in it trying to be something they are not. By the way, been to Jersey lately? Half the state was born at the Methodist. -
So wait, if I want Brooklyn to live in me, I have to move to New Jersey? And listen to Bruce Springsteen?

BTW, k-mom, I didn't think what you said was unkind at all, thought you were just relating...but yes, the personal attacks around here can be a bit much sometimes.

Oh my god. Please, shoot me now. This post has degenerated from a valid complaint about a local establishment to the tired, overwrought "I've lived here longer than you and only I know the real Brooklyn" discussion.
Springsteen's "Racing in the Streets":
"Well they're still racin' down at the trestles, but that blood it never burned in their veins;
Well I hear she's got a house up in Fairview, in a style she’s tryin' to maintain"...
But then again, you wouldn't understand.

I seems that you are angry to say the least. It just so happens that I had the same experience with this store years ago when it was new! The only difference is that she called me crazy and accused me of ruining an item on purpose and then trying to make her take it back! I became insulted because I am incapable of doing such a thing, I tried to reason with her and she claimed that she was going to call the police! So you are not dealing with a full deck of cards....My suggestion to feel resovled is to call one of the networks ie "shame on you" or "eye witness news"..they are really good at resolving customer issues on a local level! I would go for a flat out return of your money....trying to spend time at ruining her buisness over the web is a great service in letting future shoppers know how she does business but is not the most satisfying or productive way for you to resolve what is really bothering you...you were treated badly & insulted...more than pissed you are probably hurt and feel taken advantage of....the only true clear vindication would be to get your money back and call it a day!

Ask Asa? Would he care about this microcosm? Who knows?

Okay, here's a true story about these fah-fah 7th ave stores. I, like many other Park Slopers, am a freelancer. I don't have a big need for fancy get-ups and buy nice clothes for special occasions. One day I had an upcoming meeting and planned a special shopping day.
I got a babysitter for my 2 year old and set out for 3 hours of selfish, me-me-me shopping. I went to each boutique on 7th looking for an outfit and the one that offered the worst service was KIWI by far! The thing that floored me about Kiwi was when I entered, I got my compulsory hello and was then ignored. No, what are you looking for? Anything I can help you with today? Nada.
The crazy thing was when a pregnant woman and her young child came in, instant royalty! Doted upon hand and foot, fussed over and ooh'd & ahh'd. She recieved an instant 'personal shopper' and everything.
I chuckled to myself, should I just go home and get my kid so I can get some help here? I watched this woman roam the store with her 'assistant', looking at the goods, while I perused the clothes with a little green eyed monster.
So I spoke up, said I have an upcoming meeting and was wondering... The salesgirl pointed a few things out and that was it. Needless to say I left without buying anything. So next time, bring your kids and pad your stomach if you want some shopping sympathy. -
I'm not on this site much but the title of the thread caught my attention. I haven't been in this store for about two years because of a similiar incident. I purchased a (not inexpensive) bag for my wife there and within a few days the clasp fell apart. I took it back expecting to exchange it or possibly get a store credit. Instead I was told the best they could do was sent it back to the designer and have it repaired. This would take several weeks. And they acted as if they were doing me a favor by doing so.
I did get the bag back several weeks later. Wouldn't you know it the clasp broke again shortly after. Never again.
On 9/11/06 another poster wrote:
hey guest, what a terrible story. i can't believe the owner had the nerve to do that, both to you and her employee.
once i bought a pricey bag at loom, and within hours the clasp on the strap just fell apart. i brought it back the next day and showed them the strap. they said they would send it out for repairs, which would take about 2 weeks. mind you i had only owned the bag for several hours. i pointed to the identical bag on the wall and asked them to just swap my strap for the one on display. they refused, saying they wanted to sell that one. i made a fuss that they should take care of their paying customers first instead of potential customers. after much back and forth they reluctantly gave me the other strap.
it's too bad their customer service sucks, as they store has a nice selection of bags and gifts.
Funny. When I purchased the bag I remember it being the last one in the store.

Now kids are to blame for bad service? Haha.

mod note: not sure if your beef is pro kids or anti kids but ENOUGH. no, this is not objectionable enough to move out of this post, but it's just another piece of troll-bait you're dropping all over this board. shut it. -
Sense of humor = absent.
The mods are quite testy on these boards. -
I have shopped at KIWI with and without my child and they are incredibly accomodating in every way. They are the friendliest clothing shop we have on 7th avenue.

The person was complaining about the salesperson, not the kid.
You're jumping at shadows here. There's no reason to work yourself into a tizzy any time someone mentions a child. -
I thought Innocent was kidding around in regards to the other threads about kids. They weren't serious.

Yeah, it's not funny, and it's derailing every thread where anyone mentions a kid in any context. -
Hey, I'm just holding up a mirror. The number of negative posts with kids playing a role in them -- to whatever degree -- is staggering.
With the Oscars coming up, reminds me that 2006 was the year of the child in Hollywood --- the best films were about children: Little Children, Children of Men, The Host, Pan's Labyrinth, L'Enfant --- guess it's just the current obsession. Of course those brilliant films look at children a lot differently than the people on this board. -

It's not a mirror when what you posted has nothing to do with the post you responded to. If you keep derailing these threads (including this one), the posts will be moved offsite.

Not to defend Innocent X because I agree, it is annoying when someone changes a thread back to their favorite rant. But I thought IX was referring to the guest who said that she didn't get good service because she DIDN'T have kids. So I kind of think there was relevance to the comment. The guest managed to bring this thread BACK to the kids topic yet AGAIN. -

The problem wasn't with the kids, it was with the salesperson. -

I agree but the problem with the salesperson was that the poster thought she preferred to wait on people with kids. The guest sounded like woe is me, you have to have kids to get good service. Which conceivably you could extrapolate to--I can't get good service because I don't have kids--hence kids are the issue. I just didn't think in this case Innocent X was going completely off tangent. But enough about kids back to Loom.

The poster did have kids, just not with her. I don't see how complaining about the fact that the salesperson ignored her in favor of the pregnant kid-accompanied customer is in any way "blaming the kids." That's like saying that being against the Iraq war is "blaming the troops." Innocent X was shifting the focus of the original complaint to cast aspersions on someone because of a link to something that's only "related" in the broadest of terms. -
OK, I bought some gifts at Loom this past weekend and I have a receipt with their shop rules printed on the back. As follows:
- Merchandise may be returned for exchange or store credit within 14 days of refund.
- No cash refunds.
- Merchandise must be accompanied by original receipt or gift receipt.
- Merchandise must be in new and saleable condition.
- Original packaging and tags must be intact.
- Used, worn, washed, or altered merchandise may not be returned.
- Sale items and holiday items are final sale.
If the bolded rule was on the back of the original poster's receipt, I don't see Loom in the wrong. The item was worn, no matter how brief. If Loom added this on after her ordeal, then they're just covering their butts and owe that shopper her store credit. -
Loom was wrong because they took the dress back, and then reversed that decision after the shopper had already used some of her store credit.
