MEC RELEASE
END OF YEAR (2013-2014) REPORT NOW AVAILABLE
Brooklyn – Medgar Evers College (MEC) is pleased to announce the release of its End of Year (2013-2014) Report. MEC is on track to meet the goals of the 25s, as set forth by Dr. Rudolph F. Crew, President. Namely, a 25% increase in enrollment, retention, internship and graduation rates, in addition to a 25 million dollar increase in development funds. MEC received over $10 million in grants and contracts from July 1, 2013 to June 10, 2014. An Honors Program, a Pathway to Law Program and 13 new academic degree programs are projected to be established by year 2016.
Institutional highlights included MEC’s celebration of its 43rd Commencement on Saturday, May 31st at the Barclays Center; receiving full reaffirmation of accreditation with compliance in all areas from Middle States Council of Higher Education and hosting the 19th Annual Environmental Science Conference, to name a few.
A more in-depth look at the Medgar Evers College Pipeline Initiative (MEPI) – an academic blueprint designed to offer school communities an avenue to strengthen student success at key transitions – is also provided. The summer initiatives under MEPI are featured – Steel Institute PAN-CLACC, an enriching musical experience for urban youth targeting the younger Caribbean community; STEM-16HERTZ, a pioneering science and engineering program focused on igniting students’ curiosity; The PASSAGIO for juniors and senior high school students, a vocal and performance experiences with professionals who produced and directed outstanding enriching musical performances for talented youngsters, and, more.
