Personally, I can't imagine the state Democrats getting the seats that would be required to give control of over rent stabilization to the city.

Looks like rent stabilization rules will continue to remain in the hands of Albany, and DeBlasio is going to have a very hard time stopping landlords from escaping the regulations:

Cuomo and the Republicans presently seem to get along pretty well. Who knows, Albany might be able to get a few things done over the next few years.

While this will give DeBlasio the convenient excuse of "the new Albany won't let me", the truth is the old Albany would not have let him either.

As a result, I could not get excited by his populist campaign rhetoric.
