Brooklyn Eats: comfort food and hipstery bar

"CLINTON HILL — Vintage-themed bar and grill Brooklyn Eats is coming to Myrtle Avenue, bringing a menu of comfort food favorites, decor that includes classic photos of the neighborhood and old street signs plus a room dedicated to pingpong.

The eatery is set to open at 474 Myrtle Ave., between Washington Avenue and Hall Street where El Patron once was, on Nov. 13.

Brooklyn Eats is owned by Keith Gladding, the owner of Chance 11 at 895 Fulton St., and Paul Perez, owner of Fort Greene's Energy Fuel at 386 Myrtle Ave. The menu will feature creations by Chef Tim Coughlan, formerly of Park Slope's Fort Reno BBQ.

Menu highlights include a "Mac Bar" with mushroom, sausage or shrimp mac-and-cheese, three types of chili, grilled chicken tortas, burgers and fried pickles.

"When I started writing this menu I tried to keep one thing in mind; everyone deserves fine food. Fine food doesn't always mean expensive dining," Coughlan said in a statement. "Fine food to me is the right food for the right time in the right setting. It is comfort."

There will also be several beers on tap and a full bar.
