they lasted years longer than I expected them to. Especially after their racist Facebook post a few years ago about the WI Parade

we are at an interesting place on Franklin with:--the baby place--the twee vintage place--the baby-DJ vintage place--the handmade emporium (owl and thisle)all closing or relocating in the last year.So is this the official end of the 1st wave? Are duane reade's and ATM's all we have to look forward to?

I suspect the opening of the Brooklyn Flea played big parts in the demise of the twee vintage place, the handmade emporium and the combination Baby DJ-vintage place.By having all these things under one roof, The Flea provides benefits to those who seek such items....as well as those who do not want to be near such things.I think we will get a diverse "high rent" business mix soon. I'm thinking about all of those businesses that line 7th Avenue between Union and 9th St in Park Slope.

News to you all:Franklin doesn't support storefront retail business's, especially high rent. The Brooklyn Flea definitely did take part in killing business on the Ave. Remember, there are people who put their heart in sole and everything they have into what they do just to have people like you say the word "twee."

Owner of Rosebud?

Racist rant? And the owner of rosebud is not this guy "thedarkaxe", its a woman. Not sure what stores though the flea would be "killing". Yes its a weekend place which is when most business happens, but its mostly clothes and goods, which is not what Franklin's businesses really comprise. And I don't think the food vendors are killing the food shops on Franklin. I also think most of Franklin's business is locals, whereas the flea is likely non-locals.

At present, the storefronts seem to be filled pretty quickly after becoming vacant.
But the nice thing is that if the landlords of Franklin can't get enough merchants to rent their stores at present rents, said rents will drop.

It's her husband/partner -- Travis. Redhaired guy.On their facebook he is referred to as : "He has been Rosebud's architect, handyman, electrician, voice of reason, star employee and moral support"

It looks like he used to have a beard.

You guys are clever and funny. I ran Rosebud with my girlfriend. I sat in front of the store every day and literally watched the change happen. When we took that spot the landlord asked us, "Why in the world would you want to be here?" After we opened, within a year there were 12 new businesses on the block.Since the Brooklyn Flea opened on Dean it definitely effected business. There will be a cool vintage pop up store where Cool Pony used to be. Rents will drop. What people don't realize is that after we opened, 5 more stores popped up. They are all closed now, including us. We got their first and were lucky enough to get cheap rent. That is the only reason we were there the longest. We held on by a thread the whole time we were there. That is my on the right in the picture. If you ever see me on the avenue, please say hello.Have any of you ever been accused of something you are not? It's really frustrating, especially when it's posted to the internet. xlizellz- I would appreciate it if you would stop saying that we posted racist things on Facebook. All we wanted to do is help woman of all shapes and sizes find the perfect vintage piece and that's exactly what we did. It was one of the most gratifying things I have ever been apart of.If any of you want any more pictures of me, you don't have to dig. Just ask.
