  • Any updates or menu scans?
  • The printed menu they're giving out is the one for the other location on Fulton. Very similar to this: http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/soul-food-kitchen/menu. I'll grab one to scan for you the next time I pop in.

I've been back once more and learned that they don't always have the same choices (last time they didn't have pork chops, for example, but they did have collard greens). And I tried the jerk wings, which were tasty.

    Oh my GOD!!!!!!!

They have returned. This place...I can't say how much I have missed them. They closed down many years ago and relocated their seafood business to a storefront at Kingston and Fulton directly on top of the Kingston-Throop C train exit. When you would get off the train, the stairs would be full of the smell of steamed crab legs and fried fish. By the time you got to the top of the stairs, you'd have convinced yourself that it wouldn't hurt to stop in for a sandwich or combo. This was a regular Friday night stop for me for several years.

Glad to see they are back in the original location with soul food again.

Also, whether or not, they become a favorite of the hipsters, I think they'll be okay. If I'm not mistaken the building is owned by the proprietor and the staff was mostly family and extended family.

I wasn't able to get a photo, but this place seems to be in the process of constructing a completely not to code, completely without permits, enclosed dining room extension out of 2 x 4s.

It extends onto the sidewalk on Dean.

I wanted to ask for the owner and warn them that DOB, FDNY and DOH are going to fine them etc, but didn't have the heart.

....I'll try to get a photo soon, but rarely have time to stop by the area during the daylight.image
  • Oh my. Looks lovely. I love it.

They seem to have stayed within their property line, but I think this will be short lived.
