abandoned puppy needs home

Found an approximately 6–10-month-old pit bull/boxer (?) mix pup (brown w/white markings, weighs 43 lbs.) tied to a tree in Prospect Park late last night. She has no tags, and though extraordinarily sweet and friendly to both humans and other dogs, she is not at all trained or housebroken. I'm guessing that someone who had no idea what he/she was getting into adopted the dog, failed to train it, then got frustrated and employed the time-worn solution of ditching the dog in the park.

Anyway, I've got a cranky, dog-aggressive, 13-year-old dog of my own, and work in the city during the day--though I wish i could foster this dog in my apt. 'til i can find a permanent home for her, I just can't do it. My vet (dr. silverman) is keeping her at his office for the day, but i must figure out what to do with her by 7 PM this evening.

I'll take her to the CACC if need be, but would prefer not to. If you are interested in fostering her, know someone who might be, or can suggest a rescue organization that might take her, please reply to this post ASAP or email me privately at jjbrooklyn at mac dot com. Thanks!!

have you contacted the woman that owns housebroken, the store on vanderbilt and bergen? try giving her a call - she works with a lot of the local rescue groups and may be able to help you out.

    good luck!
  • Thank you! I will give her a call ...
