Live east of Kingston Avenue? I have some homework for you — Brooklynian

Live east of Kingston Avenue? I have some homework for you

Two addresses have recently requested an initial kitchen inspections. This could mean that new entities are coming to the spaces, or it could be that the spaces are under new management.

Space 1:
228 Albany Ave (near Park Place)
In this photo, 228 is both the Crown Fried Chicken and the store with an orange awning:

Your mission: See if people are constructing someplace to eat or drink. See if one of the stores is now closed.

Space 2:
249A Schenectady Ave (near Lincoln)
This place was/is a chinese take out place: http://goo.gl/maps/5RZl1
It could be merely switching owners, or it could be about to close and become something else. Your mission is to figure out why a request for inspection was filed.

Comments

  • I live near 249 Albany...haven't noticed anything different about it lately, though. Hopefully I'll remember to check it out on my way home this evening.
  • Yep, nothing out of the ordinary there. No work permits on the door or anything.

Thanks. So, we may be able to conclude that 249 Schenectady is just going through a change of ownership.
  • Sorry! I meant 249 Schenectady!

got it. We may be able to conclude 249 Schenectady is just a change of management.

The mystery about 228 Albany remains.

Will Crown Fried Chicken and its orange awninged neighbor continue to survive?

  • I did a little investigation on 249 Schenectady a couple of days ago, but forgot to come back here with the results. The investigation consisted of buying some Mongolian Beef for lunch there. In any case, the woman taking my order is the same one I've seen there for several years and she said they had not closed and were still open 7 days a week. When was that photo with the gate down taken? Perhaps it was a day when the owners arrived late or left early for some reason. The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps they had a B rating and wanted to be reevaluated for an A.
  • This may be a situation wherein we never know why they ended up on the list.

  • Probably right -- but I still like their mongolian beef and hot an sour soup ... though it was REALLY hot. The next time, I'll ask them to leave out some (half?) of the red pepper flakes. I really could not finish the container I had bought.

228 Albany Ave merely had a change in management. It is still a Fried Chicken and pizza combo place. They were re-inspected on 4/27/2015.

The stalking of DOH for genuinely new food and drink venues continues.
