Landmarking Saves CHN

Brownstoner has finally caught on to the huge boom in Flatbush. But looking at it, wow -- Crown Heights North has been largely spared this space of development. I think it is because of the foresight of groups like the Crow Hill Association and Crown Heights North Association, who got the neighborhood landmarked and somewhat protected from the ambitions of big developers.

Even in the unprotected areas, the boom has yet to be so large that large numbers of brownstones are torn down to make way for new development.
The wooden houses, warehouses and vacant lots of CH N have already been built on. Now the excavators have moved to PLG, Flatbush and Ditmas to do their work.
Howdy, Stranger!
