Not everything that opens is a bar, restaurant or boutique. — Brooklynian

Not everything that opens is a bar, restaurant or boutique.

This new business at 1455 Bedford (near Park Place) is betting that supers and landlords like to shop locally too.

It will sell the camera and door systems that are popular on renovated buildings, and new buildings.

  • Haha and here I thought the old local electrical supply stores were going the way of the dodo bird.

The owner's father may have made his living replacing tubes on American made RCA, Zenith and Magnavox TVs.
  • I hope he's a Hasid because most of the buildings going up around here are owned by the religious Jews and it's quite doubtful they'll deal with him otherwise. Although, there may be many homeowners that would want this type of service. Good luck to them.

There are already Hasid owned businesses catering to landlords in the area.

The Plumbling place on Rogers near Carroll, and the place on Empire near 7-11 (ATS?) come to mind.

They stock supplies of the quality used in rent stabilized apartments: Formica counters, 5 gallon buckets of Benjamin Moore semi gloss white paint, etc.

This business seems to be catering to landlords who run better buildings.
  • Well, the guy who just rebuilt a six family on St. Johns off of Troy must have spent I'm figuring over 250K easily. Apartments that were once going for less than $1000 are I'm sure going for at least $2500 now. I think they're 3 br/2 ba.

...or landlords who renovate recently vacated apartments in RS apartments.
