What is happening with the laundry place that was set to open last year and still yet, sits not open

Hi,

I'm sure most of y'all have come across the laundromat the has never opened. It's been over a year.

The place on Franklin is a nightmare. Most of the machines are out of service and it's filthy. I saw one guy put his running shoes in the washing machine.

???? What are we left with?

Are you talking about the laundry options south of Eastern Parkway?

Is the laundry that has not yet opened the one at Rogers and Union?
  • I think its at Bedford and Union across from the old gas station (one of the big development sites).

ah, that's what I meant to type.

That one has been in the works for years.

We really need to pass legislation re: how long a new business can take to open after it puts up a "Coming Soon" banner.

  • I looked at an apartment right around the corner from this potential laundromat 3 years ago and was told that it would open in less than a month.. thankfully I didn't even believe that at the time.
  • Haha and there is my exact same comment except shifted back a few months.  At least I'm consistent.
  • @fluxgrrl I just made a post about the awful "Franklin Express" yesterday as well! http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/46001/live-near-franklin-ep-where-do-you-do-your-laundry

That place really is terrible. I wish I could make a formal complaint, but as far as I know there isn't really some kind of violation of regulations they're making there. Laundromats don't have the DOH making inspections like a restaurant does. Just a terrible business.

Let's talk if either of us finds a suitable alternative.

Try coming all the way down the hill to the one on Empire near McKeever. That one is open 24 hours.
  • I know I already mentioned it in the other laundry thread, but I call Waverly Wu's, they come pick it up, wash it, and bring it back nicely folded, delivered to your apartment door.  A dollar a pound.  A little pricey, but at this point I'm willing to pay for the convenience of not having to wash it myself.
  • Wasn't sure which thread to update, but I received a grand opening flyer for this place in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, it didn't list an actual opening date.
