In addition to the 3 guns in three days, my reading of their twitter feed indicates they may have recovered a 4th gun sometime last week.

"Three guns in 3 days! Crime team witnessed perp point this firearm at a crowd when they made this arrest!"

"Working hard to keep people safe, the crime & conditions team took this gun from a known gang banger"

Readers who are familiar with handguns, know that the two revolvers (first and last photo) have a market value of about $50 in the midwest.

However, on the streets of a city, such revolvers are often preferred by shooters because they do not eject a finger print laden cartridge at the scene of the crime.

..and are every bit as lethal at the (often close) range that they are fired.   The handle of the revolver in the top photo is wrapped in rubber bands, perhaps in an attempt to have it be fingerprint free in the event that it is discarded after a shooting.
  • I was going to say the first and last weapons look like someone stole them from their grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather). Is that really what passes as a weapon today?
  • Revolvers shoot equally lethal ammunition as automatics. They're generally even more reliable. Main upside of an automatic is larger magazines and faster reloading.
  • Also what whynot said about not leaving brass around.

I think the rubber bands are more likely an improvised waistband concealed-carry aid, as the handle of the revolver would be quite slippery without them.

    That could be.

BTW, I thanked the 77th Pct. ...I think it is the right thing to do.
