A huge building for Nostrand and Dekalb
270 Nostrand.
If you have ever trekked to the Bed Stuy Home Depot, or transferred from the G train to the SBS, you have stood by this nursing home.
That will soon change.
For the next few years it will be a destruction and construction site. Then it will be a massive market rate building.

The Bedford-Nostrand G train is already packed to the gills. At what point does the city realize that more trains are needed as areas become saturated by new apartment buildings.

The city probably already knows that, but as de Blasio found out the hard way, Albany still controls the purse strings.
The city just agreed to kick in over $2 million towards MTA capital improvements, and yet, even with the state's contributions there will still be a shortfall. But, hey, more residents means more tax revenue that can be sent to the MTA!
@whynot_31 - I remember seeing this nursing home. I guess long-term care facilities aren't as profitable as they could be? -
Long-term care for Medicaid recipients is not as profitable. Lob-term care and assisted living for privately paying clients is much more lucrative.

The AG and the DOB are now trying to stop the conversion/demolition.
It will be interesting to see if they can catch the developer on a technicality.
Howdy, Stranger!
