Funeral home at 575 Vanderbilt dies, what will give it new life?

At a rent of $9000/mo, nothing for quite a while I suspect.
-
I have learned that I should be patient and pray for the second coming.
....because no matter how improbable it sounds, I can not predict when it will happen.
It does foreshadow the expected disposable income of the residents of Pacific Park. -
You ain't right for that thread title, @whynot_31. LOL
-
They are advertising this as street retail, so bars and restaurants need not apply.
At a minimum, I think the landlord is going to need to install a proper, bland glass storefront on this to make it attractive.
I want to know whether there is a morgue in the basement...
-
The store front as it stands looks sort of like an Abercrombie that you'd find in a mall. But since the apartments and ensuing population influx aren't going to be finished for awhile I suspect that no one will rent until that happens. I was thinking about the morgue as well. I wonder if they were able to get the small of embalming fluid out of there.

I am starting to imagine Pacific Park as ending up similar in income and demographics to Battery Park City.
As a result, I see the surrounding area being fertile for upscale boutiques. A high end hair salon, or MDs that provide "no insurance accepted" services, such as cosmetic surgery and cosmetic dental. -
A plastic surgeon's office would work there. They could turn the basement into a mini operating room.

Rachel picked this thread up and gave it a slight Halloween spin:

Does anyone know who I can contact about renting the location for a day for a film shoot? I am in need of a funeral home for my horror/comedy web-series. Thanks!

The listing for the site reports that it is "off market" as of yesterday.

The could mean a renter has been found.
...but feel free to call the agent that is listing the apartments above it. They might also be listing the first floor, their number is in this ad:
-
"Last year, Ray Smith Funeral Home in Prospect Heights sold for $2.35 million"So, this property was ultimately sold, not rented.
-
Request for major alterations have recently been filed. They likely have secured a tenant."RENOVATION OF EXISTING FUNERAL PARLOR AND TWO DWELLING UNITS AT CELLAR, 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD FLOORS. PARTITION AND FINISH WORK. RE-OPEN CLOSED UP WINDOWS AT FIRST FLOOR REAR FACADE. NO CHANGE TO USE, OCCUPANCY OR EGRESS."http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/JobsQueryByNumberServlet?requestid=1&passjobnumber=321309160&passdocnumber=01
-
"no change to use" means it will remain a funeral parlor? or just that there will be retail on ground floor and apartments stay the same
-
The latter.
