PLG Arts Chamber Music Series presents Osso Quartet — Brooklynian

PLG Arts Chamber Music Series presents Osso Quartet

PLG Arts Chamber Music Series Presents Osso at The Owl, 497 Rogers Ave, (Rogers and Midwood), Sunday, April 17th at 2pm.

Admission: $5 suggested donation

PLG Arts Chamber Music will present an afternoon of music performed by Osso on Sunday, April 17th. They’ll be performing music by Mozart, John Adams and more, joined by Katie Scheele on oboe. This is the fifth concert in the PLG Arts Chamber Music series in Prospect Lefferts Gardens

Osso fuses the classical sensibilities of a string quartet with the pulse of pop culture.  Their rhythmically driven rep and ambitious commissioning forge new territory within the classical tradition. With an exuberant commitment to collaboration, Osso has spent the past twelve years touring, performing, and recording with artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, John Legend, The National, My Brightest Diamond, and Sufjan Stevens.  Their interpretation of Stevens' electronica album Enjoy Your Rabbit recomposes computer keystrokes into vibrant acoustic arrangements, welding the energy of indie rock and the nuance of chamber music to create explosive and enchanting new sounds.

Osso is Monica Davis, Brooke Quiggins, Kallie Ciechomski, and Maria Jeffers.

Katie Scheele is a versatile oboist who enjoys an active career in New York City playing all types of music from classical to pop to experimental jazz.  She has worked with a myriad of artists including Frank Ocean, Anthony Braxton, Miguel Zenon, Gloria Estefan and many more.  Katie is co-founder of the oboe trio Threeds and is on the faculty of Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights. Katie lives in Prospect Lefferts Gardens with her husband and two young sons.

PLG Arts is delighted to include the Chamber Music series in its programming, which includes visual arts exhibitions, jazz performance, theater, author readings, and other expressions of creativity in local venues. The Chamber Music series is held at various venues in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and surrounding neighborhoods. PLG Arts is funded in part by Mathieu Eugene and the New York City Council.

The mission of PLG Arts is to promote the arts, support local artists, and build community through celebrating the vibrant creativity of the residents of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and surrounding neighborhoods. For more information, go to plgarts.org
