"A 56-year-old woman was shot on Nostrand Avenue after an argument nearby descended into violence.

The incident occurred at 7:25pm on Nostrand Avenue near Crown Street, police sources said that gunshots rang out following a dispute between unknown individuals. The victim, a 56-year-old woman, was walking on the other side of the street and was struck once in the rear.

She immediately fled into a nearby nail salon and called for help.

The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was taken to an area hospital. Her injuries are not being considered life threatening.

Police set up a crime scene and detectives went to work, searching for surveillance video and speaking to witnesses. Six bullet casings were seen littering the sidewalk in front a bodega where the gunman was presumably standing."
