A truck drove into Merritt Cleaners on Nostrand

Can I assume it happened at night, otherwise pedestrians would have been hit?

Nope. It happened around 6pm, when the street is fairly crowded. I'm shocked no one was injured. My understanding is that a truck was parked on the opposite side of the street, started to pull off into traffic and somehow made a complete left turn went up on the sidewalk and directly into the building. The proprietor was working behind the counter, but was able to get out of the way and wasn't injured. As far as I know, it was mechanical problems, not driver error or criminal behavior.
