vegetarians and vegans! Hungry??
Hey everyone!
If you are anything like myself, I am always in search of the best veggie friendly place to eat that is healthy - not doused with fake meats and white sugar. I am hoping to bring something of the sort to the area, and would appreciate lots of feedback on what you guys want! Currently, I offer a meal delivery service (www.bluenotefoods.com) among private cooking lessons, etc. I'm thinking I will expand this into a larger operation and possibly supply some of the current coffeeshops/cafes with the vegan baked goods that they are lacking (we all have a sweet tooth now and again!).
I've tried some of the vegan options in the area recently and I'm here to say that I would like to offer delicious vegan and sustainable vegetarian food that contains health supportive ingredients, but DOES NOT LACK flavor!
Rant on...
Cheers!

As a vegetarian who occasionally eats products that contain eggs and dairy, I LOVE fake meat and tons of spicy, sweet, and hot sauces to dip it in! The first time I stumbled
Vegetarian Paradise on West 4th Street between 6th Avenue and MacDougal Streets in Manhattan's West Village, I thought I in heaven: http://www.vp2-nyc.com. I'm happy that Hunan Delight on Union Street and 6th Avenue in Park Slope offerse a similiar vegtarian menu.
Sometimes the Angelica Kitchen-organic-macrobiotic style is so bland it turns people off to vegetarianism and gives meat eaters ammunition to make jokes about vegans wearing dresses made out of seaweed as they eat nothing but tofu and brown rice.
Vegetarian foods need lots of pizazz to kill cravings for real meat.
Vegan meals are most exciting if they are diverse in textire, color, and flavor. Vegetarian foods taste better if they're packed with nutrients (especially fiber, protein, and vitamin B 12)...and as unhealthy as they might be, flavor enhancers like salt, sugar, and MSG taste damn good! -

Your menu looks AWESOME!
The "Design Your Own Pasta" is a good idea. How about design your own vegetarian sushi?
Nutritional information on all foods would be helpful. -

Sodium lover:
I am right there with ya! I love the savory, too. I don't mean to imply that fake meats are all that bad and we should never ever eat them...but they are processed foods, and eating too much of it will only do strange things to our bodies. Also, while Angelica Kitchen is straight up healthy "granola" food, it's not what I crave. I'm looking to create a middle ground - yummy, fresh and delicious, with a twist of fulfilling the cravings we all have.
Thanks![/u] -
you know what I'd like? Savory pies and empandas. I never can seem to find vegetarian options that aren't bland. Ooooh, a vegetarian version of mincemeat pie!

You might want to check out the advice we all gave to Isa (one of our regular posters) when she was thinking about opening a vegetarian restaurant in Prospect Heights.
